The Southridge baseball team made it three straight semi-state championships, doubling up Brebeuf Jesuit, 4-2, Saturday afternoon at Ruxer Field in Jasper.
The Raiders jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead after one inning of play, highlighted be senior pitcher Ethan Bell's RBI double down the left field line, scoring senior shortstop Colson Montgomery from first.
Bell was also solid on the hill, keeping the Braves off the scoreboard in the early frames. However, Brebeuf Jesuit would scratch together a run in the fourth and again in the fifth, cutting the Southridge lead to 3-2.
That's when Colson Montgomery delivered the biggest hit of the game, clubbing a towering solo home run to right off the Braves' ace pitcher Andrew Dutkanych, giving the Raiders a 4-2 advantage.
Senior relief pitcher Camden Gasser would close out the game for the Raiders, who will face Hanover Central for the 3-A State Title at Victory Field in Indianapolis, date and time to be announced.
