Southridge's Bland Makes It Back To The State Meet

Dylan Bland will be running at the state meet with a year of experience under his belt.

Staying in Dubois County and just down state road 231, we have a Southridge Raider making the trek to state. Last year, Dylan Bland made his first ever appearance, and now one year later, with additional experience under his belt, the Raider is ready to do some damage this weekend.

"It's helping a lot," said Bland. "There is a hill like two or three kilometers in the race and that was brutal. I did it last year and so that's what I focused on this year, just going up the hill and there's like a half mile stretch at the end for the finish and we're really looking at the kick on the end. Last year I was just really happy to be there and, I couldn't be any happier and I kind of got caught up in the moment. While this year I'm going back so I have high expectations for myself. It's senior year and I want to finish high and finish it off strong.

Today’s high temperatures in the mid to low 90s marked our hottest recorded in the Tri-State in at least 3 weeks. Worse yet, dew point values in the upper 60s made it feel oppressively hot earlier today - most of us reached the triple digits at times today. Believe it or not, temperatures are expected to get even hotter these next few days! After dipping back into the uppers 60s and low 70s during the predawn hours Tuesday, the mercury will skyrocket back into the mid to low 90s!
