The Spencer County Sheriff's Office made an arrest on Sunday after a man refused to pull over during a traffic stop.
The sheriff's office says that Tyler A. Eckert of Huntingburg, Indiana, failed to stop for officers after a deputy observed a passenger in Eckert's vehicle to be in violation of Indiana Code.
After refusing to pull over, the sheriff's office says Eckert drove East out of St. Meinrad on SR 62 at a high rate of speed.
Deputies continued their pursuit of Eckert through Perry, Dubois, and Crawford County. Near the Anderson River in Crawford County, Sheriffs report the pursued vehicle lost control and drove over an embankment.
Officers were then able to apprehend Eckert without further incident.
Eckert has been charged with resisting law enforcement, driving while suspended with prior, criminal recklessness, reckless driving, criminal mischief, and numerous traffic infractions.
