It certainly turned out to be a pleasant day across the Tri-State; there was however, quite the contrast between afternoon highs for many of our communities. Northerly winds and added cloud cover kept temperatures in the mid 60s earlier this afternoon in Fairfield, IL. Though 90 miles southeast of Fairfield, Madisonville, KY, reached 85°.
Clear skies are expected to linger overnight and into Thursday; we’ll dip to 61° in the River City, setting you up for a more mild day ahead. The combination of sunshine and a breezy southerly wind flow will help drive temperatures back into the mid 80s area-wide for the first time in nearly two weeks. Evansville’s high of 84° Will mark our warmest since October 8th when we tipped the scales at 85°.
While Friday looks as though it will remain mild, it’s also expected to bring about our next chance of rainfall. Scattered shower and thunderstorm activity will be likely throughout the morning and afternoon due to a passing cold front. We may even see lingering showers along and south of the Ohio into Friday evening. That day’s anticipated high of 79° will give way to a significantly cooler Saturday with temperatures struggling to climb above 60°. Enjoy the warmth while it lasts.
