A ribbon-cutting ceremony is being held at Garvin Park on Nov. 13 to officially announce the completion of the park's new 'Story Trail'.

The Healthy Communities Partnership (HCP) and the Evansville Trails Coalition will be present to officially announce the opening of the park's new trail, which allows kids and families to read two new children's books while walking the path.

Each page of the stories on the trail is presented on large signs along the way.

When walking the Story Trail, those traveling the path can read 'DJ's Busy Day' while going one direction, and while heading the other way, they can read 'Gary's Gigantic Dream'.

HCP plans to install more Story Trails throughout parks in Evansville as a means to incorporate physical activity, literacy, and placemaking.

Story Trail is located around playground equipment off of N. Heidelbach Avenue inside Garvin Park.

We headed out to cloudy skies and some damp conditions this morning across the Tri-State. We've been tracking scattered showers for the first part of the day. While it’s been mostly cloudy, there will be some sunshine as soon as we get the rain out of the area. Temperatures are still expected to reach unseasonably warm values this afternoon. With some sunshine and winds out of the southwest highs should have no problem reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. Clouds will clear out, but the southerly wind flow will keep overnight lows in the low to mid 40s. Tomorrow morning won't be all that bad considering it will be December 2nd.
