We are being welcomed by clear skies to start our Thursday. It was another morning of mild conditions; Evansville only dipped to 56°. This means we're going to see another beautiful and warm day across the Tri-State. The combination of sunshine and a breezy southerly wind flow will help drive temperatures back into the mid 80s area-wide for the first time in nearly two weeks. And may I say.... it's a good idea to enjoy the outdoors today because cool and gloomy conditions are on the horizon.

Overnight lows will only dip down to the low 60s under mostly clear skies, but big changes will be on our doorsteps. While Friday looks as though it will remain mild, it’s also expected to bring about our next chance of rainfall. Scattered shower and thunderstorm activity will be likely throughout the late morning and afternoon due to a passing cold front. The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of the Tri-State under a "1" on the Severe Threat Index for Friday. Make sure to stay weather aware, especially if you have plans to head out to the Friday Night Football games.

We're going to be looking out for another brutally hot afternoon throughout the Tri-State; afternoon highs should peak in the mid to high 90s with heat indices approaching and even surpassing 105°. As for the remainder of the evening, one can expect much of the same - temperatures will stick around the upper 80s through at least dinnertime before dipping to 80° or so by 10PM. By that time there is a good potential of some rainfall and storms picking up across the Tri-State. There is a chance we could see some severe weather develop with these storms. We'll start to see relief return Friday afternoon into Saturday.
