The Evansville Police Department says an arrest has been made after a weekend shooting outside of the Dollar General store on Weinbach Avenue.

Police say 27-year-old Devin Hobby of Evansville was arrested and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon after admitting to pulling the trigger in the Dollar General parking lot on Sunday.

EPD said that officers were able to view surveillance video of the incident, which showed Hobby arrive in the Dollar General parking lot, walk into the store for a few minutes, then exit the store and have a verbal exchange with someone in the parking lot.

Police say that's when Hobby pulled out a gun and began shooting at the victim while chasing them through the parking lot, striking the victim in the lower back. EPD says Hobby then got into a vehicle and fled the scene.

Hobby was located on Monday and taken to EPD Headquarters where police say he admitted to shooting the victim.

EPD says the victim's injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening.

The combination of sunshine and southerly winds will make for another unseasonably warm day throughout the Ohio Valley - expect an afternoon high temperature near 69° this afternoon. Some areas could even see temperatures well into the 70s. Friday evening looks as though it will be just as pleasant; after seeing the upper 60s earlier in the day, we'll dip to 60° by 5 PM before falling towards 54° around 7 o’clock. We are however, watching a passing cold front that is expected to pass through the Tri-State late Friday evening and early Saturday morning. We won't see any rain from this front, but it will cool temperatures into the low 40s by Saturday morning.
