A shooting investigation is underway in Evansville after a person drove themself to the hospital with a gunshot wound on Thursday morning.
The Evansville Police Department said the 911 call was made just before 1:00 a.m. on Thursday by a man who said he was driving himself to the hospital after being shot.
When detectives spoke with the man at the hospital, he told them that the shooting happened on E. Chandler Avenue while he was sitting in his car.
The man told investigators he was sitting in his car talking with some friends when a woman, who was later identified as 33-year-old Lindsey Fields, walked up to his car, opened the door, hit him in the face, and then shot him.
After being found and brought back to EPD headquarters for questioning, Fields was arrested and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail on the charge of Aggravated Battery.
We're told that the shooting victim was wounded on his arm and chest, but no further information on his condition has been released.
