Starting Tuesday, Jan. 19, Tamarack Elementary School in Owensboro, Kentucky, will be closed to all in-person learning.
School leaders say the shutdown is due to a high number of COVID-19 cases, contacts, and quarantines among staff members, and that students of the school will be learning virtually through Friday, Jan. 22, at least.
Tamarack Elementary says it will inform parents and caregivers by Thursday afternoon what the plan is moving forward. In the meantime, the school's maintenance and custodial staff will be deep-cleaning all areas of the school to safely welcome students back when the time is right.
Curbside meals are still available for pickup, but there will not be service on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. DCPS meal service will resume Wednesday, Jan. 20. You can see the fulll DCPS curbside meal service schedule here.
The closure only affects Tamarack Elementary. All other DCPS schools will be on the A-B schedule starting Tuesday, Jan. 19.
