An 18-year-old is now dead after a three car crash Friday night in Dubois County.

The accident happened just after 10 p.m. on US 231 at County Rad 1100 S.

Investigators say 19-year-old Samuel Weiler was speeding in his BMV northbound on US 231 South of 1100S.

When he attempted to curve, he lost control. The BMV then slid sideways across the southbound lane and into the path of a Hyundai Santa Fe. The Santa Fe was being driven by 73-year-old Robert Hall.

The two vehicles collided and the car behind Wieler was unable to avoid the collision -- striking the Santa Fe.

No one else was reported injured but Nicholas McKnown, who was in the front passenger seat of the BMV, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Dubois County Coroner’s Office.

The crash is under investigation and drug and alcohol tests are pending.

Monday morning, we will see partly sunny skies with temperatures still in the mid 20°s. By the afternoon, we will be warming up into the mid 40°s with cloud coverage increasing. This is due to a cold front expected to traverse the tri-state overnight Monday.
