Schools within the Tell City-Troy Township Schools district will be closed for a week due to "staffing challenges."

From Monday, Oct. 12 - Friday, Oct. 16, schools within the district will be closed.

According to a statement released by TCTTS Superintendent John Anthony Scioldo II, at this time, a "substantial number of staff members" are quarantined due to their potential exposure to COVID-19.

"As many of you know, we have done a great job of keeping the virus out, with only two confirmed cases in the buildings and no known student-to-student spread," Supt. Scioldo's statement said. "At this time, however, we are experiencing a substantial number of staff members being quarantined due to potential exposure to the virus. This is straining our resources, and finding substitute teachers is becoming more difficult."

On Oct. 12, students will participate in virtual instruction by logging on to their Google Classroom to complete assigned work. From Oct. 13 - 16, there will be no student work.

Student lunches will still be provided from Oct. 12 - Oct. 16, in a "drive-thru, summer style."

Supt. Scioldo's statement stressed that the closure wasn't caused by COVID-19 cases within the district, but instead by the quarantined staff members.
