Evansville, IN -The city of Evansville is celebrating the holiday with planting 212 trees in public places.
Plantings of the trees are thanks to the combined effort of the city of Evansville and its Department of Urban Forestry, the Evansville-Vanderburgh, CenterPoint Energy and other private donations.
“We are proud of our combined effort to increase the canopy across the city, creating a healthier, more attractive community," said City Arborist Shawn Dickerson.
“This year-end tree planting effort not only is a fun way to celebrate the holidays, but it also marks the culmination of our 20th anniversary as a Tree City USA,” Dickerson said.
The trees will be planted in downtown tree wells, city parks, cemeteries, boulevards, and other public areas.
