Republican Indiana Attorney General candidate Todd Rokita has secured his position as Indiana's next attorney general.

Rokita, who was up against Democratic candidate Jonathan Weinzapfel, was declared the winner of the election for attorney general by the Associated Press, with 61.73% of votes, versus Weinsapfel's 38.27%.

He'll take office in January 2021 and succeed Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill, who took office in January 2017.

Rokita's campaign announced Tuesday that he and his family would be watching election returns from home on Election Night, due to Rokita recently testing positive for COVID-19
