Tracking Multiple Rounds of Rain as Ida Draws Closer

What to expect Sunday & next week

TODAY: The Tri State could be facing its 7th-straight afternoon in the 90s. Luckily, the NWS has held off on continuing the Heat Advisory for Sunday. Regardless, the final Sunday of the month of August will definitely live up to the summer-like standard. Afternoon highs will soar into upper-80s and low-90s. Heat indices will spike closer to the century-mark. Isolated pockets of showers and storms will be possible through the peak-heating time of the day.

TONIGHT: Clouds will linger through the overnight as the mercury cool into the low-70s by daybreak Monday.

NEXT WEEK: The rain gear will be needed to kick off your work/school week. Monday and Tuesday will include generous chances of showers and storms. Latest model data has a line of thunderstorms rolling through as early as 10 AM Monday that could impact afternoon plans. Secondly, the remnants of Hurricane Ida could track close enough to the area by Tuesday. These rounds of rain could leave many communities, especially south of the Ohio, upwards of 2+" rainfall by Wednesday morning.

Temperatures were a heck of a lot more bearable earlier this afternoon - despite our northwesterly winds, temperatures peaked at 54° in Evansville earlier on and are expected to remain quite comfortable as we head into the evening hours. Expect temperatures ranging from 48° to 41° between 7 PM and 10 PM; though the added cloud cover over the coming hours will only allow temperatures to fall as low as 38° by early Wednesday morning. It's not all good news however, it looks as though some of us (especially those north of the Ohio River) could see periods of scattered rainfall throughout our Wednesday morning.
