Two people were arrested and eight neglected dogs were rescued following a search warrant that was conducted by the Mount Vernon Police Department (MVPD) and Mount Vernon Animal Control.
MVPD Officers and Mount Vernon Animal Control executed the search warrant on Wednesday, after receiving multiple complaints surrounding animals at a residence.

According to MVPD, eight dogs were found living in "deplorable conditions."
The dogs were rescued and taken in by an area shelter.
MVPD says both occupants of the residence where the search was conducted were arrested and charged with Neglect of an Animal.
Assisting agencies included Mount Vernon Animal Control, Mount Vernon Police Department, Posey County Animal Control, Posey County Rescue Task Force STORM, Posey County Prosecutor’s Office, and PC Pound Puppies.
