The Metropolitan School District of North Posey said Monday that several students from two different Posey County schools had tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.
According to MSD of North Posey, those who tested positive include two students at North Posey High School and one student at South Terrace Elementary School.
The Posey County Health Department assisted in contact tracing, which was initiated at the sign of symptoms. As a result, MSD of North Posey says six South Terrace students and 12 North Posey High School students were identified as close contacts and quarantined.
District officials say that as of now, they plan to continue with in-person learning with safety protocols in place.
23 new positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in Posey County on Monday by the state health department, which brought the total number of county residents known to have contracted the virus so far to 1,189.
