University of Southern Indiana Men's Soccer sophomore Zach Barton was named second-team All-Great Lakes Valley Conference in a vote of the leagues head coaches. The honor was the first of Barton's career.
Barton led the Screaming Eagles this spring with team-high 19 points on nine goals and one assist. The team-best nine goals were a career-high for Barton and featured a team-best five game-winners.
USI senior defender Josef Winkler also was recognized with a nomination for the James R. Spalding Sportsmanship Award. Winkler appeared in 12 matches this spring with two starts, posting a career-best three points on one goal and one assist.
USI finished the spring schedule with a 7-6-1 overall record after falling in the first round of the GLVC Tournament Monday night at Quincy University. USI was 7-5-1 during the conference-only regular season, placing sixth in the league standings.
