Starting on Thursday, Kentucky Unemployment Insurance systems will be shut down for four days due to attempts from suspect criminal individuals or enterprises to gain unauthorized access to UI consumer data.

Governor Beshear issued a strong message during his Wednesday press conference condemning the bad actors and criminals who would attempt to steal money and benefits away from those who are in desperate need of assistance, creating much longer processing times for those genuinely applying for benefits.

According to the press release, The Commonwealth of Kentucky says they are committed to protecting Kentuckian's privacy, and though the office of unemployment insurance is investigating whether some data may have been compromised, they provided additional resources for those in the Bluegrass to protect their personal financial records.
