Wednesday morning, Heritage Park High School students received a life saving lesson from behind the wheel.

"I really lost control of the wheel, I could not drive where I wanted to drive," says Lexus Nelson.

That uncontrollable feeling, is from a virtual reality impaired driving and texting simulator. Each student had the chance to sit in a fully-functioning car that does not move, but has sensors synced to the brakes, steering wheel, and headset. Through different scenarios, students were able to drive under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, and their phones.

"This has taught me that, I will never drive under the influence of anything, i wouldn't want anyone in my family to get hit in a crash," says Johanna Poyner.

As a part of the course, representatives presented citations to determine what they were under the influence of. "I got speeding, swerving, driving on the incorrect side of the road, and collision."

Unite's Arrive Alive Tour is ranked number one in the nation for impaired driving awareness. Heritage Park High School, is one of 39 Kentucky Schools chosen for the tour.

Wow!!!! It's cold!!!! After a trace of snow in Evansville and some highe amounts to the south, we're waking up to temperatures in the mid to upper teens across the Tri-State. Thankfully, road crews did a fantastic job treating the roads to keep conditions from getting slick. However, the northerly winds gusting as high as 15 to 20 mph has dropped wind chill values into the single digits and even below zero in our western communities. There won't be much of an improvement in temperatures this afternoon. With the strong northerly wind flow and dry skies our highs will only reach the mid to upper 20s. Winds will stay quite breezy keeping the wind chill factor in place through the day.
