The University of Evansville is now reporting the number of active positive COVID-19 cases on the campus through a new dashboard recently launched on the University's website, which as of noon on Aug. 31, shows 19 active cases.
According to the University, the new COVID-19 dashboard will be updated three times each week: on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday by noon.
Positive cases will be removed from UE's count on the dashboard once they have met CDC criteria for symptom-based recovery.
"It's really designed to do two things," Explained UE President Christopher M. Pietruszkiewicz. "One is keep our campus community informed about what's happening on campus, and secondly - and perhaps even more importantly, is to be able to share with our campus community it's their responsibility to keep those numbers low."
"As long as they keep those numbers low, we get to stay here in person," Pietruszkiewicz went on to say.
The University's website says the COVID-19 dashboard will be used to help inform continued decision-making related to campus operations while also observing and sharing campus health trends.
UE says it's also providing additional information through contact tracing to individuals who have had direct contact with COVID-19 positive individuals.
