Vanderburgh County Reports New COVID-19 Death

Vanderburgh County inched closer towards 400 total COVID-19 deaths on Friday after the state health department said a new death had been identified.

On Friday, the Indiana State Department of Health said it had identified a new COVID-19 death in Vanderburgh County.

After Friday's report of one new COVID-19 death in the county, ISDH said Vanderburgh County had now reached 394 total COVID-19 deaths since the pandemic began.

Though no other new COVID-19 deaths were identified in southwestern Indiana outside of Vanderburgh County's, ISDH said that new positive cases of the virus had been identified in all of our local counties.

Local COVID-19 Increases Reported Friday:

  • Vanderburgh County: 16 new cases, 1 new death
  • Warrick County: 5 new cases
  • Daviess County: 5 new cases
  • Gibson County: 4 new cases
  • Knox County: 4 new cases
  • Dubois County: 3 new cases
  • Perry County: 2 new cases
  • Posey County: 1 new case
  • Pike County: 1 new case
  • Spencer County: 1 new case

Including the local COVID-19 increases reported Friday, ISDH said 1,327 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus had been identified throughout the Hoosier State.

In addition, 14 new COVID-19 deaths were reported statewide on Friday, including the new death reported in Vanderburgh County.

Now, 704,632 total Indiana residents have tested positive for COVID-19 to date, while 12,803 total have died from it, according to ISDH.


Updated Statewide COVID-19 Numbers for April 16 Via ISDH

In Indiana, any individual who's at least 16-years-old can receive the COVID-19 vaccine

For individuals in the Indianapolis area, the state health department will be offering the Moderna vaccine from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The bitterly cold start to our Wednesday will inevitably lead to a cooler-than-average afternoon across the Tri-State. We're currently expecting an afternoon high of 26° in Evansville on Wednesday afternoon (that’s 17° below average for this time of the year). Temperatures will once again dive back down towards the teens for many of us overnight and into early Thursday. As for right now Thursday morning looks as though will be slightly warmer, but only just - believes model data indicates that we will see a morning low temperature of 14° under partly cloudy skies in Evansville tomorrow morning.
