A massive search is underway tonight for a wanted Hopkins County man who is wanted for two different shootings in the south side of the county.
Hopkins County deputies say 39-year-old Joseph Franklin has spent the past several days firing shot at a man in St. Charles.
The first incident happened on Friday when Franklin got into an argument with a person and fired a shotgun at the person while they were in their car.
A number of people were around that man. Fortunately, none of those people were hit by bullets, then this morning around 2:00 a.m., Franklin returned to the same address and proceeded to fire shots at the same person’s home who Franklin is accused of shooting at on Friday, and the sheriff tells 44News he has a lengthy criminal past.
“He’s very well known to my personnel and the state police," said Matt Sanderson. "He’s got a long criminal history, and I consider him one of the most dangerous individuals in the county, and we’re using a lot of resources now.”
Franklin has previously been booked for armed robbery and other violent crimes her in Hopkins County, and the Sheriff’s Office says they are in contact with outside agencies to help bring in this extremely dangerous individual.
Again, Sheriff Sanderson says if you do see Franklin to make sure not to approach him, and once you get to a safe place, please contact the Sheriff's Office.
