It's amazing the difference just one week can make. Last week brought about an ice storm and two rounds of accumulating snowfall, this week we get to watch all of that melt (while some of us point and laugh). Temperatures peaked at 48° in Evansville for the second straight day, but the mercury is expected to spike tomorrow - an ample amount of sunshine paired with a pleasant southerly wind flow will help drive temperatures to their highest point in nearly two months! We'll reach 57° in Evansville; the last time we saw temperatures that warm was on the afternoon of December 28th. Some of us may even reach 60° Tuesday afternoon!
While slightly cooler, Wednesday looks just as pleasant - afternoon highs will tip the scales at 53° for much of the area under partly cloudy skies. However, a passing cold front will supply the region with more cloud cover Wednesday night and some cooler conditions for our Thursday. After seeing temperatures dip below the freezing mark for the first time in nearly 72 hours that morning, afternoon highs will only reach the mid 40s across the Tri-State Thursday afternoon. All is not lost however - there's more warmth on tap.
Another surge in temperatures is expected during the weekend ahead - after wrapping the work week on a bit of a high note (51° and mostly sunny Friday afternoon), chances of rain will return overnight Friday and into the predawn hours Saturday. Fortunately, our Saturday still looks as though it'll be a pleasant one - expect temperatures near 60° under gradually decreasing cloud cover! Another round of rain is currently expected to affect our Sunday plans however, so be sure to make the most out of that gorgeous weather Saturday.
