Warming Shelters Available in Owensboro Throughout the Week

Shelter from the cold and a place to sleep will be available through Monday in the Owensboro/Daviess County area.

Officials in Daviess County, Kentucky, are offering a warm place to stay throughout the week for individuals in the Owensboro/Daviess County area.

According to Andy Ball, Director of the Daviess County Emergency Management Agency, temperatures in the area will likely drop to 15ºF or lower throughout the week.

That's why Owensboro Christian Church will be open as a warming center during the cold weather event, also offering bedding from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. each night of Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. (Feb. 11-15, 2021).

Director Ball says that individuals should first check capacity at the Daniel Pitino shelter (at 501 Walnut St, Owensboro, KY) and St. Benedict’s shelter ( at1001 W 7th St, Owensboro, KY).

The following transportation options are available:

  1. Provided from the Daniel Pitino Shelter to Owensboro Christian Church at 6:00 P.M. each White Flag night.
  2. Owensboro Transit System bus route: FREE for White Flag shelters (two bus stops near Owensboro Christian Church)
  3. Self-transport to the warming shelter anytime 6:30 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. White Flag nights. The White Flag shelter entrance will be between OCC entrances “C” and “D” on the New Hartford Rd side.
