Locally, school district after school district have started the new year with masks now required.
But what happens when students forget their masks at home?
Do you get sent home for the day?
According to school district leaders, that should never happen.
Instead of forcing kids to go home, schools are handing out disposable ones -- thanks to PPE federal money they have recieved.
"We have extra masks available in every school that we keep on hand for those times when someone forgets their mask or leaves theirs on the way to school," said Jason Woebkenberg, spokesperson for EVSC.
Over in Henderson they too have extra masks on hand, even on buses.
Even if a student does bring a mask and it gets ripped or or they damaged it throughout the school day, school leaders say they will be given a new disposal one.
And that there should never be a time when a student has to be sent home because they forget one.
Because the whole point of them wearing them is so they can safely....
"Keep everyone in school five days a week," said Megan Mortis, public information officer with Henderson County Schools.
Parents are asked to make sure their kids have an extra supply of masks before they head to school to help out.
