What The CDC Recommends For Holiday Gathering

After a year into the pandemic, the number of cases has Dr. Fauci still wondering is it too soon.

As the holiday season approaches, people are making their plans, and many are looking forward to spending the holidays with family.

"I'll probably just gather just with my family at my grandmother's house as we always do," said Javen Layne, who plans to spend time with family.

Although COVID-19 cases are still present, people aren't letting that stop them from gathering together.

"Our whole family's in town so we like have an excuse to get together and see them. Very excited," said Hannah and Noah Alvey.

But after a year into the pandemic, the number of cases has Dr. Fauci still wondering is it too soon.

"We just have to concentrate on continuing to get those numbers down." said Dr. Fauci.

So what should people do? Well the CDC says getting vaccinated is the first step and receiving the Booster shot if you're eligible.

Having these things taken care of will help when gathering with large groups, a concept the Alvey's agree with.

"I think with the vaccine readily available, it's safer now than it was last year, but I also think people are just really sick of it and they want to get together anyway." said Hannah Alvey.

With Halloween around the corner and Thanksgiving and Christmas months away, health officials are taking things day by day, and asking people to focus on doing what they can to keep themselves and others safe during that time.

We headed out to cloudy skies and some damp conditions this morning across the Tri-State. We've been tracking scattered showers for the first part of the day. While it’s been mostly cloudy, there will be some sunshine as soon as we get the rain out of the area. Temperatures are still expected to reach unseasonably warm values this afternoon. With some sunshine and winds out of the southwest highs should have no problem reaching the upper 50s and lower 60s. Clouds will clear out, but the southerly wind flow will keep overnight lows in the low to mid 40s. Tomorrow morning won't be all that bad considering it will be December 2nd.
