The main focus heading into the rest of the day is the winter storm. The main impacts associated with this system is heavy snow, blowing and drifting snow, and very cold wind chills. A Winter Storm Warning is still in effect for the entire Tri State until tomorrow morning. The first wave of snowfall brought some of our communities more than 1" of snowfall this morning.

The second band will bring us our heaviest amounts of snowfall through the rest of the day. We could receive anywhere from 1"-2" an hour. Some of our far southern communities will see some sleet mixed in with the snow. Combining those conditions with strong winds and bitterly cold temperatures is setting us up for a very dangerous environment this afternoon into tonight. Snowfall will let off the gas as we get closer to 5 p.m., but we'll see lighter snow through much of the evening.

If you must head out, be prepared to battle with slick roads and snow drifts. Don't be surprised if travel is still difficult by tomorrow morning. Not to mention, we won't get above freezing tomorrow afternoon. Most of the snow won't melt and then we're talking about snow chances returning Wednesday into Thursday.

We're still looking to receive anywhere between 7"-11" of snowfall by the end of the night.
