Woman Arrested in Posey Co. After Traffic Stop Nets 2 Lbs. of Marijuana

A 22-year-old woman was booked into the Posey County Jail on Wednesday after Indiana State Police Troopers say they found approximately two pounds of marijuana, 35 vape cartridges containing THC, and 48 grams of THC wax and THC gummies inside of her vehicle during a traffic stop.

A Wednesday morning traffic stop on I-64 in Posey County led to the arrest of a 22-year-old woman on multiple charges.

According to the Indiana State Police, a Trooper was patrolling the area of I-64 near mile marker 17 when he stopped a motorist for speeding.

ISP says the driver, who was identified as 22-year-old Alexis Turner of Cicero, Indiana, displayed signs of impairment and failed field sobriety tests.

During the traffic stop, ISP says the Trooper's K9 alerted to the presence of narcotics.

ISP says a search of Turner's vehicle revealed approximately two pounds of marijuana, 35 vape cartridges containing THC, 48 grams of THC wax and THC gummies.

According to ISP, further investigation revealed Turner was under the influence of marijuana.

Turner was arrested and taken to the Posey County Jail where she is currently being held on bond.

Alexis Turner, 22, of Cicero, Indiana

  • Possession of Marijuana, Class B Misdemeanor
  • Operating a Vehicle under the Influence (Marijuana), Class C Misdemeanor

Following the passage of some scattered rainfall earlier this morning this afternoon turned out to be quite pleasant, albeit cooler overall. After peaking at 73° on Monday afternoon in Evansville, the River City reached just 68° earlier today - obviously a drop of just 5° isn't anything significant from day to day, but that difference signals the arrival of a cooling trend expected to last into the weekend ahead. As for the remainder of our Tuesday, expect our mainly cloudy skies to linger into the evening and overnight hours as temperatures gradually dwindle into the upper 40s for many of us.
