A woman from White Plains, Kentucky, was life-flighted to the hospital on Thursday after the sheriff's office says she was involved in a serious crash.

According to the Hopkins County Sheriff's Office, 47-year-old Misty Carlton was driving north on Highway 813, when she crossed into the opposite lane and exited the side of the roadway.

The sheriff's office says that after leaving the roadway, Carlton's vehicle went into a ditch and collided with a tree.

Carlton was life-flighted for suspected serious injuries, but no word on her current condition at this time.

The sheriff's office says the investigation is still active.
