The Center for Disease Control and Prevention made the decision to allow the vaccinations Tuesday.
Those shots could start as early as Wednesday with the full vaccination effort expected to be up and running by next week.
More than 1,300 sites across the state will offer the vaccine to children, including local health departments, hospitals, pediatrician offices and pharmacies.
A short time ago, the Indiana Department of Health opened online pre-registration at Ourshot.in.gov. Parents can also call 211 to make appointments.
