Doctors from Deaconess Hospital took to Facebook for a live COVID update. Topics covered included vaccinations, masks and shockingly high statistics.
According to Dr. April Abbott, cases seen by Deaconess went from 170 three weeks ago to 300 two weeks ago. Last week, Deaconess saw 541 coronavirus cases.
"And so what we need you to do today is put your mask back on. And so I get that that's not popular and none of us wanted to end up back in that place, but in order to stop the surge that we're experiencing, that is 100 percent the only way that we can stop what's occurring currently," said Dr. Abbott.
One of the main reasons for rising case numbers is due to the low vaccination rate in the Tri-State area, with most counties falling below the 50 percent threshold.
As cases continue to surge, doctors once again plead that the public continue to get vacccinated and wear masks when necessary.
