Two Evansville natives and world-class swimmers have been recognized by Indiana's governor.

Mikaela Jenkins and Lilly King were honored by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb along with the rest of the Hoosier State's Olympians and Paralympians.

"I’m proud of the men and women who represented our great state on a global platform," Gov. Holcomb said. "These athletes shed blood, sweat, and tears to become Olympians and Paralympians, a title fit for very few in this world, and now I’m honored to be considered a Hoosier among them."

Each of the athletes honored by Gov. Holcomb was awarded a Sagamore of the Wabash.

In the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Jenkins became a two-time gold medalist.

As for King, she took home a Bronze and a Silver in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
